Robert Kowal and Wayne Van Loon have each worked in the wine industry for over a decade. Robert was most recently assistant wine maker for Bethel Heights Vineyard from 2000 to 2004. Wayne is the proprietor of Pomona, a producer of artisan hard apple cider. Together they have made wine for Frameworks since 2001.

Frameworks strives to craft wines which express the character of the vineyard, of the vintage, and of the grape with minimal intervention. We believe the task of the wine maker is to create a complete and enjoyable wine with as little embellishment as possible. This philosophy is expressed in our name and logo: a frame is to present its painting, not compete with it for attention. It is our belief that no technique should ever overshadow a wine. A successful wine for Frameworks is one which conveys the soil of the vineyard, the life of the vine, and the essence of the grape. It’s not about us, it’s about the wine.
